Dr. H. Kenneth Kopolow was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Las Vegas. As a 1990 graduate of the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis Tennessee, he returned to Las Vegas and started the Practice in 1993. Dr. Kopolow is active in state and federal legislative efforts, as well as ensuring the Practice continues to maintain the highest possible clinical standards. Dr. Kopolow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Purdue Global University. He has 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and enjoys personal training and listening to music.
Shortly after joining the group in 1996, Dr. Steve Girisgen became a co-founder of the Kopolow-Girisgen multi-office Practice. Throughout his 27-year career, Dr. Girisgen has been passionate about delivering the highest quality medical eye care to his loyal patient base. In recent years, he has become a strong advocate for the optometric profession, as well as for all Nevadans in need of eye care services. As the current President of the Nevada Optometric Association, he leads the optometric community in fulfilling its mission of “Providing Eye Care for All”. In his spare time, Dr. Girisgen enjoys coaching and participating in his children’s sports activities. He also founded Vegas Crew FC, a non-profit soccer club that provides a pathway for high-performance youth soccer players to achieve success on the field, in the classroom, and throughout life.
Dr. Frances Capulong Jones joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen as an Associate Optometrist in 2012 and became a Managing Partner with the opening of our Valle Verde/Paseo Verde office in 2018. Born in Corona, California, Dr. Jones received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California-Los Angeles (Biological Sciences) in 2006 and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in 2012. Dr. Jones emphasizes the treatment and management of ocular disease and specialty contact lens services while in clinic, and enjoys boxing/fitness, German cars, traveling, and collecting designer handbags and shoes in her free time.
Dr. Sabrina Hisham Ali earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Suffolk University in Boston, MA, before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry in 2024. Dr. Ali is passionate about providing comprehensive eye care, including the management of ocular diseases, diabetic and glaucoma screenings, contact lens fittings, myopia control, and diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision disorders. With a commitment to addressing your family's visual health, Dr. Ali brings expertise and enthusiasm to her practice. Outside of work, Dr. Ali enjoys exploring local coffee shops and participating in community fitness activities like yoga, Pilates, and cycling.
Dr. Linda Bayerkohler has been a Practice leader since her arrival in 2003. A 2000 graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry, Dr. Bayerkohler emphasizes primary eye care, management of ocular disease, and contact lens services. She was born and raised in Barrett, Minnesota, and earned undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees from Southwest Minnesota State University in 1995. While there, her areas of study included Physical Science Education, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. In her free time, Dr. Bayerkohler enjoys spending time with her husband of 20 years and their 3 daughters. She also likes to travel and watch movies.
Dr. Jessica Bertemati originally joined the Practice in 2012 as an optometric technician and returned 10 years later after receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. Her clinical interests include primary eye care and ocular disease diagnosis and treatment. Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Bertemati is of Cuban descent and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and learning new languages. As a longtime Las Vegas resident, Dr. Bertemati earned her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in 2015 where her fields of study were Biological Sciences and French.
Dr. Jessica Celestino was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen in 2021 after receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2020. Dr. Celestino earned her BS in Biology degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2013. While in her role as managing doctor, Dr. Celestino has specific interests in primary eye care and the treatment of dry eye disease. While away from her office, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and family, traveling, attending music festivals, and trying new foodie spots.
Dr. Yen Chu-Chen joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen after completing her Doctor of Optometry studies from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2020. She was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and spent her childhood years in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. In addition to primary eye care, Dr. Chen has specific interests in treating and managing dry eye disease, diseases of the posterior segment, and neuro-ophthalmic disorders. While away from the office, Dr. Chen enjoys dining out, cooking, dancing, traveling, and most water activities.
Dr. Phil Duran was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico in 2007. He joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen in 2013 after receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry, followed by a clinical residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation and Traumatic Brain Injury at the VA Hospital in Long Beach, California. While in clinic, Dr. Duran emphasizes primary eye care, specialty contact lens service, and diagnosis and management of ocular disease. In his free time, Dr. Duran enjoys family travel and coaching youth sports for their children.
Dr. Angelica Estrella joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen a few months after graduating from the University of California-Berkley College of Optometry in 2020. Dr. Estrella describes one of her highlights in optometry school as participating in a service mission and traveling to Nicaragua to provide eye care to underserved people of that country. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biochemistry and a Minor in Performing Arts-Music at the St. Mary’s College of California in 2015. Dr. Estrella focuses on primary eye care, treatment of dry eye disease, binocular vision disorders, and some specialty contact lenses while in clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys music, watching the Vegas Golden Knights, and cats.
Dr. Jenna Farrar is a native of Los Angeles, California. She completed undergraduate studies at the University of California-Berkely while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. She completed optometric training at Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry and joined the Practice shortly thereafter. Dr. Farrar has developed a special interest in pediatric optometry and finds it most rewarding to help children see for the first time. While away from work, Dr. Farrar enjoys visiting art museums, learning about international cultures, finding new places to eat and hopes to someday visit every Disney Park in the world.
Dr. Amy Hitzeman moved to Las Vegas from Honolulu, Hawaii in 2017. She earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in 1998. Dr. Hitzeman is passionate about providing specialty services in Low Vision, Visual Performance, and Interventional Myopia Management. She also heads up our Visual Performance Center of Nevada and is a leader in these specialty fields. In her spare time, Dr. Hitzeman likes to travel, spend time with family, and watch football.
Dr. Richard Katz came to Las Vegas in June 2022 after living and practicing in Northern Virginia since 1983. Prior to attending optometry school, Dr. Katz completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Towson State University in Baltimore, Maryland in 1979. Dr. Katz earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Katz has taken special interest in the areas of children’s vision, contact lenses, sports vision, and surgical co-management. Outside of work, Dr. Katz enjoys staying healthy through exercise, traveling, cooking, and baking.
Dr. Jeremy Kei was born in San Francisco, California, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. A 2021 graduate of Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry, Dr. Kei joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen first as an Associate Optometrist and is currently the Managing Doctor at the busy Sahara/Cimmaron office. Prior to attending optometry school, Dr. Kei obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California-Los Angeles in 2016. In addition to having an interest in providing full-scope primary eye care, Dr. Kei has developed a specific interest in treating dry eye disease. While away from the office, Dr. Kei enjoys video games and DIY home improvement projects.
Dr. Kara Kopolow joined the Practice after receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2023 from Western University College of Optometry in Pomona, California. Dr. Kopolow was born and raised in Las Vegas and received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Science from the University of Nevada-Reno in 2017. While in clinic, Dr. Kopolow provides primary eye care and has specific experience treating ocular disease, particularly dry eye disease. She enjoys Pilates, shopping, spending time with her 2 pugs, and playing indoor soccer.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Dr. Quy-Anh Le-Huynh completed her undergraduate education in 2015 at the University of California-San Diego by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2021 and joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen shortly thereafter. Dr. Le-Huynh concentrates on primary eye care and ocular disease while in clinic and enjoys book clubs, video games, and yoga in her spare time.
Dr. Jessica Lemus was born and raised in Canada and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba in 2013. Her undergraduate field of study was Psychology. She joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen in 2020 shortly after receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in Pomona, California. In addition to providing primary eye care services to her patients, Dr. Lemus has a specific interest in the area of pediatric optometry. During her free time, Dr. Lemus enjoys painting, traveling, Pilates, and reading.
Dr. Sabrina Leong is a Southern California College of Optometry, class of 2023 graduate. She completed her undergraduate studies by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California-Irvine in 2019. Hailing from Fremont, California, Dr. Leong enjoys arts & and crafts, attending concerts, and finding new restaurants in Las Vegas. While in clinic, she concentrates on providing primary family eye care and contact lens services.
Dr. Justin Lucido was born and raised in Las Vegas. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2018 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Southern California College of Optometry in 2023. While training, Dr. Lucido gained extensive experience in the management of ocular disease and refractive surgery co-management. Dr. Lucido has special interests in pediatric optometry, interventional myopia management, specialty contact lenses, treating ocular surface disease (dry eyes), and co-managing patients with glaucoma. In his free time, Dr. Lucido enjoys watching sports, videography, and exploring new food places with friends and family. He is also in the process of becoming a wine sommelier.
Dr. Kelli McLaughlin completed her undergraduate studies in 1998 at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2002 and joined Drs. Kopolow & Girisgen in 2006. Dr. McLaughlin has refined her skills in primary eye care with an emphasis on the diagnosis and management of keratoconus. Outside of the clinic, Dr. McLaughlin enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with her children.
Dr. Leonardo Miro moved with his family to Nevada from New Jersey and joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen in 2021. He is a 1990 graduate of the State University of New York, State College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Stony Brook University in New York in 1986. Dr. Miro completed his postgraduate clinical residency in Primary Care Optometry at The United States Military Academy at West Point in New York in 1991. Dr. Miro has been practicing Optometry for over thirty years in many settings. His practice interests are primary eye care and the assessment, treatment, and management of ocular disease. Doctor Miro is currently accepting new patients and is eager to meet all of your family’s eye-care needs. When not busy seeing patients, Dr. Miro and his wife enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Abraham Motola is a board-certified optometrist with interests in the treatment and management of Glaucoma and Dry eyes. He joined the Practice in 2018 and earned his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University, a Master's degree from Point Lola Nazarene University followed by his Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry class of 2016. He supports the profession with involvement in the Nevada Optometric Association and is the current president of the Southern Nevada Society. Dr. Motola was born and raised in San Diego California. Both his parents were born in Mexico City where he is able to do eye exams in Spanish. Dr. Motola enjoys spending his free time with his family. He also enjoys dancing, sports games, and listening to music.
Dr. Brian Nasser grew up in the Bay Area of California. He received his BS degree in Biology from Boston University in 2015. He joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen in 2020 after graduating from the University of California-Berkley School of Optometry, also in 2020. In addition to providing his patients with primary eye care, Dr. Nasser takes a special interest in the areas of amblyopia prevention, medical eye care, and contact lens services. While away from his office, Dr. Nasser is a passionate hockey and Vegas Golden Knights fan.
Dr. Mindy Nguyen joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen in February of 2020 after moving to Las Vegas from Southern California. Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2011. She completed her undergraduate education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California-San Diego in 2017. Dr. Nguyen enjoys providing specialty contact lens services, as well as primary eye care to patients of all ages. In recent years, Dr. Nguyen has developed a passion for providing eye and vision care to children. While away from clinic, Dr. Nguyen likes to spend time with her husband and daughter, LOVES everything Disney, and enjoys baking.
Dr. Vanessa Pan joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen after completing her Doctor of Optometry degree in Pomona, California at Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in 2023. Dr. Pan is originally from Colorado and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Colorado-Denver in 2019. Dr. Pan enjoys taking care of patients of all ages. While in clinic, she concentrates on preventative eye care with particular interests in dry eye disease, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. While still training, Dr. Pan was awarded a prestigious Johnson and Johnson Vision Care Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care in 2023. While away from her office, Dr. Pan enjoys Pilates, barre classes, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Jay Patel was born and raised in Woodburn, Oregon. Dr. Patel received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2019 before moving to Southern California to earn his Doctor of Optometry in 2023 from Western University of Health Sciences. His clinical expertise is in primary eye care and management of ocular disease with an emphasis in dry eye care. You can catch Dr. Patel looking for the best coffee shops, playing tennis, and exploring new places to eat.
Dr. Michael Roth joined our Practice in September 2019 after moving to Las Vegas from Syracuse, New York. Dr. Roth spent many years in private practice and was instrumental in the founding of Vision-USA, which eventually became the national charity of the American Optometric Association. Dr. Roth was New York Optometric Association President from 1988-91 and was appointed to the SUNY College of Optometry Council by the Governor of New York. A graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry in 1973, Dr. Roth was a member of the Tomb and Key Honorary Society and served as the assistant to the head of the contact lens department. Dr. Roth holds glaucoma certification privileges in Nevada, California, and New York. In his free time, Dr. Roth enjoys spending time with his wife Linda, as well as playing golf, hiking, and biking.
Dr. Lilian So was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and joined Drs. Kopolow & Girisgen after earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in Pomona, California. As an undergraduate student at the University of Nevada-Reno, Dr. So completed her Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Biology and Nutritional Sciences (2015). In clinic, she concentrates on primary eye care and has advanced experience in treating dry eye disease. Her hobbies and personal interests include Pilates, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. Dong Suk was born in Seoul South Korea and raised in Southern California. A self-proclaimed “foodie”, he joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen after graduating from Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in 2013. Dr. Suk also completed a post-graduate residency program in primary eye care/ocular disease at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Suk is a primary eye care optometrist with a specific interest in treating and managing ocular disease. He completed his undergraduate studies in Neurosciences at the University of California-San Diego in 2005. In addition to his love for all things “food”, Dr. Suk enjoys snowboarding and watching movies.
Dr. Jasmine Ta hails from Los Angeles, California, and joined Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen shortly after graduating from Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in 2023. Dr. Ta completed undergraduate studies by earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California-Davis in 2017. Her clinical areas of interest include primary eye care and management of ocular disease with an emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Outside interests include home decorating, playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Christopher Tom is a 2019 graduate of Southern California College of Optometry. Undergraduate studies at The University of California-Davis resulted in him receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Biology and Psychology. Since joining Drs. Kopolow and Girisgen, Dr. Tom has developed specific interests in primary eye care and the treatment and management of dry eye disease. He grew up in the Bay Area of California and enjoys traveling, reading, and exploring Las Vegas food venues in his spare time.
Dr. Tascha Wells has been an Associate and Managing doctor with the Practice since 2017. She was born in Louisiana and received Bachelor of Science degrees from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina (Biology) and Nova Southeastern University (Vision Science). She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) in 2007. While in clinic, Dr. Wells concentrates on primary eye care and enjoys spending time with family and fitness activities while away from her office.
